Maumere and Bitung, Indonesia
Fair Trade tuna fisheries
With support from the Fish Tales Foundation, two small-scale pole-and-line tuna fisheries in Indonesia worked toward MSC and Fair Trade certification. Both fisheries have now proudly earned Fair Trade certification, strengthening sustainable practices and community livelihoods.

Improving tuna welfare
The Fish Tales Foundation is pioneering to make tuna fisheries more humane. With our project partners, we are developing the first practical method for humane killing of skipjack tuna in pole-and-line fisheries, alongside other measures to reduce stress and improve overall tuna welfare.

Sustainable shrimp farming
The Fish Tales Foundation supported smallholder shrimp farmers in Indonesia to create a sustainable, future-proof supply chain. Through training, guidance, and collaboration, we strengthened livelihoods while protecting traditional farming methods and the oceans.

We support small-scale fisheries to improve sustainability and social responsibility together with local partners. Our projects strengthen coastal communities and ensure their livelihood on the long term. At the same time, we inspire consumers to make choices that protect both the oceans and the communities that depend on them.
